              Rhode Island Foundation

Hope High Dollars for Scholars has established an endowment fund at the Rhode  Island Foundation to provide scholarships in perpetuity. Our partnership with the  Foundation gives us access to planned giving resources and professional endowment  management. By contributing to our endowment, your charitable giving can benefit  the students of Hope High forever.

How to Give Now: Options

Donations-online, by check, or EFT We always welcome donations of any amount. Donations may be made by mail, through our web site, or by electronic funds transfer (EFT). Visit our  website hopehigh.dollarsforscholars.org and click  Donate Now.

Qualified Charitable Distribution from IRA  during lifetime

Annual distributions directly from one's IRA to a  public charity (like Dollars for Scholars) are easy  to do and those amounts may count toward the  donor's required minimum distribution without  being claimed as taxable income.

Gifts of appreciated stock

Our partnership with the Foundation provides us  with the ability to accept donations of items of value such as stock or other financial instruments.

Planning Now to Give Later: Options

Bequests

Making a gift from your will or trust is simple. A charitable bequest can be a specific dollar  amount, a percentage of your estate, or what remains after other bequests are made.

Retirement fund assets

Donating retirement fund assets from qualified  plans or IRAs, upon your passing, is ideal for char itable giving purposes because these assets are  often heavily taxed. This option offers an opportunity to avoid income and estate tax.

Life insurance

Life insurance can be used as a charitable asset,  thereby enabling you to be eligible for a charitable tax deduction based on the current  value of the paid-up policy. Or you can support our  endowment by making it the beneficiary of part or  all of the insurance proceeds.

A gift to the endowment should be made to Hope High Dollars for Scholars directly, with instruction that it be directed to the Hope High Dollars for Scholars Endowment Fund at the  Rhode Island Foundation. We look forward to working with you.

Contact Jane Bermont, President, at jbermont@aol.com or 617-686-9158, to discuss Endowment Fund donation options.
